RSS Feeds
For years information specialists have been disseminating information via newsletters (printed & electronic), email alerts and bulletins which were sent to interested parties. These methods were commonly labeled "push information delivery"
RSS feeds have opened new collaborative ways to deliver current awareness services actively involving the user and allow him to combine various resources. RSS feeds help the user in drawing information from his selected sources to a common location and allow for automatic updates of information. This ensures relevancy, active readership and contribution from both the information specialist and the users they serve . Instead of creating multiple email alerts which clutter one's email and are usually difficult to sift through, the RSS feed delivers alerts directly to a website which presents only newly added records that match the query.
Huge Advantages
>Effortlessly share this information with others. >Create a list of resources, share them with group of people. >Sent invitations to a group of people to view your feeds. >Receive alerts from peer-reviewed journals, trade magazines & websites of your interests.
